I’ve discovered that I really enjoy a savory breakfast. So many breakfast foods are sweet, and they have their place, but sometimes I’m just not in the mood for something sweet in the morning. This Macro-Friendly Breakfast Sandwich has become a staple for me. I’ve been trying to get more protein in my diet to help build more muscle and I’ve noticed that eating a lot more protein not only has helped me build muscle, but I’m not nearly as sore after my workouts anymore.

I love to have this sandwich with a glass of Fairlife fat-free milk. It boosts my protein intake by 13 grams per cup and it actually tastes pretty great. An added bonus is that it is lactose-free for those of you who have a hard time digesting lactose. Anyway…back to the sandwich!

Macro-Friendly Breakfast Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 English muffin
  • 3.5 oz (scant 1/2 cup) egg whites
  • 2 slices turkey or ham (I use Hormel Natural Choice)
  • 1 tsp. French’s honey mustard
  • 1/2 Wedge of The Laughing Cow light cheese original
  • Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoning
  • Salt

Instructions

Heat up a frying pan at medium heat. Spray the pan once it’s hot with cooking oil. Pour the eggs in the pan and let them sit until cooked. Don’t mix them. Sprinkle the eggs with Everything But the Bagel Seasoning and salt.

While the eggs are cooking, toast the English muffin.

When the eggs are cooked, fold them in half like an omelet and then i half again. Turn off the heat and place the meat on the pan briefly to get it warm.

Take the English muffin out of the toaster and spread the cheese on both sides and spread the honey mustard on top of that. Add the meat and eggs to the muffin and enjoy!
